Description

Mental illness is very common and amongst people aged under 65, nearly half of all ill health is mental illness. Yet only a quarter of those suffering from a mental illness, such as depression, are in receipt of treatment.

We now have a far better understanding of the integration between mind and body and it makes sense to reflect that. This will require a fundamental change in the way services are provided and commissioned and this conference will examine the latest research and encourage debate from all involved to ensure we develop evidence based, comprehensive and supportive services for the future.

The conference will focus on ways we can ensure that mental health conditions are given equal priority with physical health in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The day will be more than a ‘talking shop’ and the aim is that delegates will work together to agree key principles for achieving parity of esteem and to agree actions to implement these principles in our area.

Places at this event are limited, so please book by Wednesday 16th April to avoid disappointment. You can register at https://valuingmentalhealth.eventbrite.co.uk.

The conference is part of the nationwide ‘Call to Action’ debate NHS England is facilitating to consider how to meet future demand for services while maintaining quality of care for patients. Further information about the Call to Action is available on the NHS England website here.

We value your contribution and encourage you to attend this important event that will help us work in partnership to shape the future of services to ensure the highest quality care and support for local patients.

Lunch is included. Please contact rosa.taylor@nhs.net if you need to discuss your dietary requirements.
